A word on the show ring. The community is so helpful to newcomers. I had, on my second show, not only Gary Newberry coaching me from the sidelines, but also Emma Pullen (Razorsedge – a fellow competitor) talking me through from behind. Yes it’s intimidating and dogs have a mind of their own – especially Bullies – but even when you fall flat on your face, there’s always a helping hand.
Breeders Gary and Andrea went on to show Queenie to perfection collecting countless firsts; BB, BOS, and BIS while I watched from the wings, with Gary picking up two CCs, and Andrea three reserve CCs. Finally, when it was time to push the baby bird (me) out of the nest, I took her to her third CC, making her a UK Champion. I don’t mind telling you I cried the whole way around the ring on the winning lap.
We took it in turns at the Bull Terrier Club Trophy Show, as Queenie was a triple invitee, and she really did show her socks off for all of us. Go watch a show and grab a rope lead.
